How are NGK Spark Plug Wires? Worth it?
I found them for $25 online. I'm probably selling the car, so I just need something that will be OEM equivalent. If I do keep the car, it's stock and will remain that way, so I don't see myself greatly benefiting from $100 wires.
If they're crap I don't mind spending $50 on a set of decent wires, but if the NGKs are OEM quality then I'd have to go that route.
I did some searching and only found one thread asking the same question and people just diverted to other favorite brands rather than answering the question. Has anyone used these? I don't need a scientific response comparing their resistance to X or Y brand, just some "I've used them and they were fine" or "I've used them and they were a big bucket of suck"
thanks!

wires DO have to be replaced when there is a misfire that comes up every few days, the plugs and coils were replaced and two boots don't hold the new plugs all that tight. I think that's the source of my occasional issue.
I know they're not an item that needs regular replacement, but I wouldnt' want 100k stock wires in my car, wondering about jacket and contact integrity. That's not the case for me, I'm just using it as an example.

It pains me to say it, but a truck.
I LOVE my 8, but it's just not the most practical in the 'tool' sense. Right now, I'm just a phone call away from a truck or 2 if I need it. I can call my dad or father in law and borrow theirs. I basically have a my cake and get to eat it too...followed by a nice cognac.
I'll be doing a bit of moving with the Air Force (new officer, getting initial training stuff out of the way) and my wife and I will be far from home when we get our final base assignment. That means I'll be calling u-haul if I so much as need to bring home a sheet of plywood from Home Depot. She drives an Accord, so no help there. I know the AF will move our stuff for us when we PCS, but that doesn't cover buying a new table, landscaping stuff, or something crazy like three suitcases
The truck, if I get one (I'm at about 85% yes right now), will be more of a tool than a daily driver I enjoy. I'm not big on debt and 3 vehicles would be impractical, so no 8 + truck for me. It's one or the other. I get more daily pleasure out of the 8 than I would a truck, but the frustration saved would be worth the loss of daily fun, I think.
Sometimes a tool is more important than a toy.....god damnit

may I make a suggestion?
Home Depot rents trucks. If your insurance covers rentals (it should, and if it doesn't, its a $30-50 dollar option).
Rates here are like... $20 an hour. If you use a truck once a Month for an 8 hour day (not likely) you'd be around 2 grand a year. Like I said, not likely.
However, if you honestly think this is or will be the case. Take 2-3 grand, buy a truck, and after the first year or two it will pay for itself.

I've thought of saving and buying a beater truck, but a third vehicle just isn't in the cards right now. I'd have to worry about parking it, moving it and maintaining it when i don't even know where I'll be in the country (or world) after the year is up. Also, that's a few extra grand I'd be spending on a car rather than paying off the little debt I have. I own the car out-right, so will only spend what it brings if I sell it (selling price will dictate IF it goes too. Not enough, no sale, no truck). I have some pidly little debt that could be gone with 2grand, and free up more monthly money to pay off the other couple things I owe on.
Another factor I forgot to mention is I keep reef tanks. I have small tanks, but to move them they need a lot of extra space for water, etc. I'll need 3x 5g buckets, 2-3 jugs 5g jugs of water, room for tank and stand and a little extra space for misc equipment to move my 33g tank. I'd fill the 8 to the gills doing this, trunk and all. That leaves no room for the bird and his cage. Oh, I have a bird too I trust the AF to move a couch, but not my thousands of dollars in reef hardware and livestock.
I've been trying to come up with viable alternate solutions, even a hidden hitch on the 8 to tow a small trailer, but they all seem like more trouble than the net gain. Who knows, maybe a vette or an rx-10 would be in my future when it comes time to buy another toy.
