How much oil are you using?

We just got back from a 2000 mile trip for a "shakedown cruise".
There was about 750 miles on the car when the trip started. At about 1300 miles on the odometer, the oil level indicator came on at high speeds, so I put in about 1/2 quart to quiet that down. On the way back from Chicago, the light came on again at around 2600 miles and I put the other 1/2 quart in.

So, my conclusion is that it will take a quart of oil every 2600 miles or so. Has anyone else had similar experiences?

My VIN is 2178, so I'm assuming that the oil pan doesn't have enough baffle. My dealer doesn't have a clue about the problem, so I'll hit them up a few weeks from now and see if they've received new oil pans to solve the problem of the oil level light being too sensitive.

I see the oil light come on in the same fashion - high speed, light flashes, slow down, light goes off, speed up, light goes on, etc....

I have 3/4 showing on the dip stick. I know there is enough oil in my RX-8 I truly believe it's the baffle problem. I really wish someone would address this at Mazda HQ and inform the dealers.

I want it fixed. I want to drive my "sports car" like a "sports car" without having to back off of the accellerator at high speeds.

I went on a pretty good "road racing" run in the mountains on Saturday.
Averaged 165khm ( 102mph) on twisty, winding mountain roads.

Peak speed: 225kmh
Lots of hard acceleration and braking.
Went through 3/4 of a tank of gas in this fashion ( DON'T ask my mileage on that trip!)
No oil light.

Went from full to 3/4 on the dipstick on that run and 2,000 kilometers around it with no oil light or ill effects.

I just added a quart for the first time this weekend. I have just over 2,400 miles.

I just added 1/2 quart at 2211 miles.... I also get the oil light coming on, even after pushing the oil level back up to near full. As close as I can tell, it only happens on the freeway going about 85-88 mph in 6th gear during a slow banking right turn. The rpms are pretty steady, between 4-5k.... I drove 3 laps on a large "track" on the freeways around my house, and all three times the oil light came on in the same place (the long right hand turn). It quickly goes away as soon as I change speeds by downshifting or braking. I haven't talked to the dealer yet as I am trying to do some more "debugging" myself before I subject myself to their baffled, 90-eyed explanations...
If anyone else has experienced this, lemmeeno!
