How do you check for flash/ecu version>

Well I'm not privy to the inside stuff. My take was that Racing Beat had the ECU stuff on hold because they didn't want to go too aggressive with their tuning and they weren't finding much in the more moderate area. But I also speculated sometime last year that there was probably close to 30 rwhp to be had from proper tuning, and replacement of the cat. Raising the rev limiter a bit would probably net 10-15 hp more on top of that. So I'm anxious to see what Racing Beat puts out.

If that's not the case anymore, then great!

well once again another RB website claim is implied to be THE source of info, the real reason for my reply was to say otherwise because the power has already been found by others quite a while back, even though the information may not be that well known or discussed here
nothing personal intended, we were just bantering, sorry if it seemed otherwise

hey, I was wrong, no problem ...
and there's more than that, at least that much above Mazda's fairy tale rating with just an intake and racing exhaust (header(?), high flow cat, straight pipe catback) on an engine dyno ...

What's interesting, is that if the RB ECU project gets good gains w/ the OEM emission equipment, BS RX-8 campaigners will have to add it to the list of 'must-have' upgrades. There's virtually no way to detect something like that, esp. at the solo2 level.
