HIGH OIL CONSUMPTION DUE TO WRONG AIR INTAKE HOSE Series 1 ONLY
It appears that Mazda factory Spare Parts have incorrectly packaged the Air Intake Hose as a REPLACEMENT SPARE PART.
In other words the correct Part Number labeled but with the wrong Air Hose inside box, in fact the 09 or Series II Air Hose has been supplied in error.
So if your Air Hose (concertina intake one) has been replaced because of a Vehicle Accident or other reasons there is a possibility that the incorrect hose has been installed and you may experience HIGH OIL CONSUMPTION as a result.
Please see attached TSB showing how you can inspect you Air Intake.
NOTE: This is NOT a Recall, or Wrong Part Installed During Production in your RX-8.
It is the WRONG replacement part supplied and possibly installed IF your car has had this part renewed.

I have a high oil consumption problem. And the attachment doesn't explicitly state how to inspect it to see if you have the wrong one. Do I just Check the small hose for 3 holes?

If you have any more information on this Ash, it would be helpful.
This is t.swain's thread that I have been trying to help him through, but it's getting puzzling: https://www.rx8club.com/series-i-trouble-shooting-95/oil-level-problem-help-232792/

It ONLY applies to those those have had it renewed...they don't replace them with engine replacements.
As originally said, it was a replacement 'parts' issue, a Series II part was inside a Series I numbered box/bag/wrapper.
And Jackson is correct...
Series II's have 2 not 3 '13-758' Vacuum Elbows like Series I's.

what they're saying is that when people didn't have the third hole to connect the line to they just plugged the hose end, which causes the OMP nozzles to experience engine vacuum, which in turn causes high oil consumption
these numnuts are doing it intentionally
