Help with RP Transmission/Gear Oil

Here is the oil that I was planning on using:

Royal Purple - Max Gear - 75W90

Max-Gear is an ultra-tough automotive gear oil. It’s designed to maximize power and provide unsurpassed protection to heavily loaded gears. It makes gears run smoother, quieter, cooler and longer without overhauls.
Max-Gear outperforms other gear oils because it combines the highest quality synthetic oils with Royal Purple’s proprietary Synslide additive technology.

Max-Gear is recommended for use in truck, motor home / RV, and automotive front or rear differentials, manual transmissions, and lower gear units of marine engines that specify use of an API GL-5 or GL-4 fluid. All viscosities of Max-Gear are formulated with hypoid friction modifiers necessary for use in clutch or cone type differentials. No additional additives are necessary.

I was going to use it in the transmission and rear dif, that is 5000 km's after she goes under the knife for a new tranny.

Let me know if this is good to go, if not I'll try to return it and get some Red Line.

While Max Gear is the proper weight, it has fiction modifiers in it for use in differentials. These modifiers do not work well with our Transmissions synchros. It is fine to use in the rear end, but I wouldn't use it in the transmission.

Alot of people will recommend different things, but the 2 main things you need to get are a straight GL4 fluid and at least a 75w90.

I did a bit more reasearch, I think I agree with your assessment. I will use it in the diff and use Redline for the tranny. Thanks Juice.

i ran it for 60k miles, no issues..

shifts great.. but there is some controversy about it. like syn vs dino oil.

I would not use it. Many people have reported problems with its use.

Use Mobile One synthetic or Redline
