Hi,
I've bought a couple of months ago a RX-8 04 190. I probably flooded because I didn't know the story of flooding. I moved the car in the garage and I turned it off.
After 20 days I tryed again to turn on and it didn't work.
Than I wait Christmas and I departed home for 3 weeks.
After nearly 2 months there is need to change the battery as well? I bought it second hand. The battery seems new BOSH HSB010. Should I change it anyway? If yes, which models are suitables?
Anyway yesterday I friend helped me with the cables and it didn't work. I didn't insist much because when I push the accellerator, I smoke stated to come from the engine and I thoght that something was wrong.
Could you please help me? Give some tips-advice?

Smoke means it was trying to start usually. If you flooded it it will start with a lot of smoke....keep it running till it idles smoothly

first of all I'd like to know if it caused a problem leaving the car for nearly 2 months, no driving.
Second, should I change the battery at this point?

No, it won't cause a problem with the car. The battery may be dead, but a simple jump and then driving it around will fix that.

 

It would not smoke anymore unless you flooded it again.
