well remember that your exhaust is nicely located right underneath the trunk and considering the 8 runs hot which in turn heats up the exhaust i would say normal......you're fine....with the exhaust there is not too much you can do except not drive

It also plays hell on the Heineken beer mini-kegs. Don't take a cold one in there for a drive, 'cause when you get where you're going, it's nothing but foam.

took out the complete trunk and put in some foam about half an inch thick and the trunk is like a cooler now and stays cool even on hot days!i also put the foam in the side panels to keep my tunes inside the car and not out.works good for me !

I lined the center console and floor/well area of the trunk with aluminum/foam insulation. It dropped the console temps 10-15 degrees but didn't touch the trunk.

Yeah, there isn't much avenue for heat to escape the trunk. So, even insulation will only delay the inevitable. For the trunk, the answer I think lies in rejecting the heat before it gets in. I.e., shielding the exhaust.
