Help! Mechanical Issue

Well i've noticed over the last week or so, when i try to accelerate in my car, it has nowhere near the amount of power as usual. Especially at high rpm's. I just had the oil changed about 2 weeks ago, and i don't think i need anything else done to it. I don't want to mess the engine up, so please if there is any ideas u guys have to what it might be and a possible solution. My car has 51,000 miles on it. Please give me any help you can. Thanks

Aaron

I guess you've never replaced your ignition coils. so it might be a good time to do it with new spark plugs. Coils can probably last around 15-60+ miles, depends on your driving condition. Spark plugs usually 15-30K. again depends on the condition.

Replace All 4 ignition coils and Spark plugs.

Get the set of Ignition coils from finishlineperformance.com or OnlineMazdaParts.com

Then get all 4 new spark plugs @ sparkplugs.com

You can have a local garage do the work for you, I say 50 bux tops.(For NYC)

May want to try a decarb procedure as well. I had my mazda dealership do this for me as I told them I was experiencing lack of power. They did it for me under warranty and my car runs better than ever. Very easy to break the tires loose and get it sideways around corners now.

what is the decarb procedure? The air filter was replaced when the oil was (about 2 weeks ago) the spark plugs have about 2 months on them. Not sure about the coils you guys are talking about. Could that cause the lack of power?

coils could definitely be the issue....check this link for the decarb procedure.....it is supposed to clean out any carbon buildup in the engine.

click on the first link: engine lack of power

Ignition coil: (need 4) Easily relpaced yourself--the dealer will screw you on this

If you have the dealer do the decarb it will probably cost a few hours of labor, you'd have to call your dealer for a quote. You can do it yourself if you want too, by following that TSB. You can buy the decarb stuff from the dealer, probably 20 bucks at the most. I could be wrong, but I don't think it's that much money.
