knn air filters
Hello guys, I have a question. I have an 04 RX8 Auto, And I have seen some RX8 engine bays with the KNN air filters, IS there any requierments of rme to use that certain airfilter, or can I just buy one and put it in myself. The reson why is because some guy told me I needed to have a turbo on my car... ANd also can I get the website to buy it from. Thanks for your help in advance.

panel filter yes, k&n intake yes, NO requirements for turbo or what not BS
you can use whatever intake you wanna use...you might wanna look into gettin something different, the k&n intake sucks in a lot of hot air from the engine bay cus i has no top cover...go through the vendors here on the 8club and im pretty sure you can find a good intake at a good price

Read what Racing Beat has to say about getting additional power out of the Renesis engine before you buy any intake system, or exhaust system for that matter. Basically, their testing has shown that very minimal increases in HP are gained by just about any modification short of forced induction. I'm sure the Racing Beat REVi Intake Kit is a quality item, and it looks cool, but if you're looking for significant increases in HP, save your money.

Any performance benefit from a K&N filter (drop-in replacement), if any, will be too small to notice. In my opinion it's a waste of time and money. Yes, the K&N will last forever if you wash and re-oil periodically, but that process is a pain in the ***. I ran a K&N on another car, and when held up to the light you could actually see daylight through some of the bigger holes in the filter medium. I guess that's what helps it "breathe easier", but since the horsepower gain is unnoticeable I don't think it's worth a lower filtration. On top of that, the oil in the filter can mess with the MAF sensor, so then you've made even more work for yourself with periodic MAF sensor cleanings.
Hard for me to see an upside. And since it's enclosed within the airbox even the "coolness" factor seems questionable at best. I'd just stick with the OEM filter and replace it more frequently if you're concerned about airflow. Put a K&N sticker on the outside of the airbox. No one will ever know

Zoom Zoom....
Nubo.
Performance-wise, wouldn't it be better to put a K&N sticker on each endplate of the Giant F-1 Wing?
ps. I have a K&N panel filter. I'm sure it gives me an extra 50 hp. (actually, I just bought it for the louder intake noise).

HKS Racing Suction was 500=]
K&N Drop In sucks in hot air like no tomorrow. Another member(wb rx-8) who lives a block from me has the version 1. He went to a local rotary mechanic and said he should get or make some kind of cover for it.

^how is the stock airbox going to pull in hot air since the intake is routed to the passenger side of the front bumper....the stock intake on this car is one of the most efficient and net the most power out of compared to a 300 and up intake!
