i recently purchased some headers.. and i have a manual that covers exhaust removal and installation. is it a good idea to do this at home even though i have to remove the engine mount?

 

If you have the tools... why not?
I would feel more comfortable with a lift but it can be done on jackstands

 

Here is my rule of thumb, If i have to ask if it is a good idea, it usually isn't.

 

If you have all the necessary tools to do the job... yes. It's just a bolt-on process anyway.

 

this can definitely be done at home assuming you have proper tools. A friend and I installed my Racing Beat header in my garage, we loosened the motor mount, held the engine with a floor jack and got the job done in a decent amount of time.

Depending on which header you went with, it can be a very tight fit so be prepared for that. Also, don't break the front O2 sensor.

I second that, it can be done at home. as long as you have jackstand for all corners securely in place you are fine. Best be done with a partner who can help while you are under the car. If it is your first time take precautions. I swapped mine for an exoticspeed one and that took about 4-5 hours with breaks. not too bad.
