Do you have an owners manual? There are several ways to try and deflood.
Some are easy, some not so easy.
This is the not so easy one. http://www.finishlineperformance.com...5-08-1883f.pdf

Can you read the pdf file that I linked? Read the first part.
This car doesn't like being started and then shut down before reaching normal operating temperature. It's in your manual for the car.
What.............no manual? Go to www.mazdausa.com under the owners section and get a free download of it. Yes, you will have to register, but it's worth it.
Anyway, the first step is try holding the gas pedal to the floor and crank it for ten seconds, let go, and then try to start as normal.
If that doesn't work...then............open up the fuse box and remove the fuel injection fuse (don't know which one it is), just look it up and I'm sure you'll find it. After removing that, crank it but don't crank it over 8-10 seconds. If it doesn't turn the first time, it should turn the second. After it starts, a crap load of smoke will come out of the rear............but thats normal. After it starts and you burn the remaining fuel in the engine, dont forget to put the fuse back.
If that doesn't work, then see that first link I provided in my first reply.
Above and beyond all...............DO NOT start the car and then shut it off before the temp gauge reaches close to where it normally sits.
A lot of people will bump the idle up to 3,000 rpm before shutting it down, but I don't. I just never, ever, shut it off cold!

Wet fouled plugs can also prevent an engine from starting, but in many instances the fouling problem has nothing to do with plug wear or neglect. If an engine is flooded with fuel while it is being cranked, gasoline can soak the plugs and bleed off the ignition voltage before it forms a spark. On fuel injected engines, wet fouling is less of a problem but can happen if a cold start injector leaks or there's a fuel calibration problem that creates an overly rich startup mixture. The cure in all cases is to wait for the plugs to dry out, or to remove the plugs and clean or replace them.

i just tried these ways and it did not work...when he pulled out the fuses there was one for fuel he tried for and a fuel pump fuse...tried with each one out at a time but did not work...still wont start....he said that it doesnt smell like gas as much anymore so could that mean that it is working??
