Has anyone had dealer replace sunroof guide pins?
My sunroof would annoyingly rattle over rough pavement and drive me crazy.
A local Mazda dealer is replacing the sunroof guide pins under my b2b warranty per an open TSB about sunroof rattling.

I briefly talked to the technician and he mentioned the interior roof panel had to come off and backseat backrest had to come out. All to put new sunroof guide pins in the track groove?!?! Neither I or the dealer folks thought it would be this complex. Perhaps, I'm the first 8 owner getting it done there.
They were nice enough to give me a rental car for the night, but I hate to hear things like this - who knows if they will put it back together right and in the same shape/condition.

I had this problem for a long time. Initially the dealer tried to replace the guides, but that failed twice. Eventually they replaced the entire sunroof assembly. When they remove the headliner, be sure they get it back in properly. I've had issues with the dealer putting a large crease in my headliner and had to have them replace that as well. Eventually they replaced it, too.
The bottom line is, inspect your car thoroughly when you get it back. The rattle may disappear for a while, but mine always came back eventually until the entire assm was replaced.

I had this problem back in '06, my dealership replaced the entire thing under the TSB. (took them a few days and they made a mess of my roof liner)
The rattle eventually came back though.
White Lithium grease is your friend...

Thanks for the advice and posts. Looks like I will have to look at that roof liner very closely when I get the car back and make sure I use white lithium grease regularly.

I happened to go by the dealership and looked at my car in the repair bay. Rear seats were removed and the light gray headliner had fingerprints everywhere. The tech working on putting back my seats said it'll clean up. It better...
I told the service rep that it didn't look too good. Hope it gets fixed or I'm getting a new headliner.
Second thoughts about getting this done...so anyone thinking about it - think long and hard whether you want to subject your car to dismantling.

Meguairs makes an upholstery cleaner that works really well on the roof liner. I used some to clean up all the finger prints and it looked like new.
Should I have to be responsible for cleaning up a Tech's mess? No, but I am quite particular about these things and wanted it done right.
