But how many miles did you have in the housings?

There's a lot of confusing info out there about whether or not to use new housings with each engine rebuild

Anyway, the project is turning out great!!

It depends My Housins had about 80k miles , previous owner used premix for some time not sure how long but it helped, I would just have a Rotary builder in your area look at them , New of course are better but used can be used, makes a difference too on what Apex seals you will use.

Congrats Chino! This has been an inspiring thread to follow. I'm going to re-read this and a few other threads for a couple months, as I have a feeling this is in my future over the next 25-50k miles!

thanks shady ,

On my first start up , what I did .
I put a bit of oil in spark plug area on both rotors ,
Turn engine a few times by hand , ( wrench )
Took crank shaft sensor off turn key a few times
Let it sit for a bit ,
Put crank sensor on and turn engine on it started right up ,
Let it sit for a bit check for leaks and yep had a couple of heater hose leaks , never let someeone do **** for you lol
Once temps got to half way mark turn it off let it cool check for leaks and put more purified water after adding 50/50 and radiator additive .
Turn back on it started righT up again. Let it run for about 15 min did same thing again , turned it back on it started right up then let it run for about 30 min had my obd 2 monitor checking everything and digital temp and everything was reading good.
Called my mechanic over he brought me another 12 pack of coronas to celebrate he check everything he said looks good just make sure to break it in good before you get on pedal . Had a few few beers , wash my car while is on with a 30 " commercial fan in front of car while I wash it kept lookinG at monitor and everything was good. Turned it off finish drying car turn on then moved it from location it was and everything seem good,

Now tomorrow turn on let it run change oil. Then after a few cycles of on and off and check temp and water level I'll take for a spins around block and of course it will stay under 4,000 Rpms . But it seems like everything is all good starts right up it don't get hot will see ow it feels on 3 pm heat from Florida. Wish me luck.

Thanks ,

On the other note this morning car stated up like a new one no problem , turn of then back on kinda too quick that I got a p0270 code intake valve open, check threads out found a good one
https://www.rx8club.com/do-yourself-...valves-174009/

Awesome thread , I check valves out the 2 easier ones to get to and they move easily , so I just assume the got stuck open for a bit I never had that code before and for future guys rebuilding ( clean this out I totally didn't and I regret it) . I reset code and didn't come up turn off and back on car starts right up. And actually drove it with my daughter down the block, everything seem good.

Tomorrow change oil , let it warm up a bit and a spin I go . I won't pass go. I mean 4k Rpms lol. Wish me luck .

O question im going to look it up , my scanner shows coolant at 203-206 but my needle from cold to hot is less than half . I know I've read this before ..

I may just add a 3rd fan for extra cool what you think. I will read but kinda busy to search.
