So are you are Puerto Rican? If yes, that probably explains the rx3, the flag and the dog, LOL

I'm a bit Are you doing the rebuild yourself or just pulling the engine to send to an engine builder?

You mentioned hoping the housings will be ok. If it was me, after going through all the work of pulling the engine out, I would just do it the 'right' way and go with new housings. You mentioned the car was not well taken care by the previous owner. So there's a good chance those housings need replacement - although you would certainly have to take the engine apart to fully confirm. But being an 04', personally, I would just get new housings regardless. You might find other stuff you might need to replace too anyway.

Yeah, that thread from rotary resurrection totally rocks.

Lol no I'm Australian they have more rx3 than ricans lol Jk,, nope not rebuilding my self my good friend is. Engine was replaced once by dealer , and previous owner used premix so I'm hoping housings are good if they look kinda shitty and I got to question someone I'm buying new ones. And this process was not difficult at all thanks to Rotary Resurection , so if I can get 40,000 mi or more I don't mind doing this all over , Jk

Hahaha, Puerto Ricans seem to have an obsession with the rx3s. Lots of nice ones in the island.

If that engine is a mazda reman, then you have even more reasons to want to get new housings. There have been reports of Mazda reman engines that apparently used housings that were below specs. Just sayin'. If you look through the forums, you will see that many people object to the quality of those engines.

Also, it doesn't make sense to me you are wanting to build an engine that at least would last 40,000 miles. I guess I think differently. I would want to build the best engine that I could.

Just curious, how long did it take you to pull the engine from the car following rotary resurrection's instructions?

^ o I defently have an obsession on RX3 my favorite .. And don't get me wrong i want 100,000 miles plus on my engine I'm saying if I get 40,000 miles cuz I'm going to drive the **** out of this car ill be good . I'm going to Chicago on it if all is possible .
And I haven't open engine up yet once my builder has a bit time he will swing by and take it apart but housing look bad or like they won't last I'm getting new ones for sure but what price did you get yours for I've seen them for 650 and it ranges .

I think 6 hours but I have a bad back and I like writing labels on everything I remove and put in sandwich bags with labels and taking pictures , o and I have a bad back so I have to have my son do some work and that's a bit slower . As well I stop to make sure everything is looking good and I have everything label I hate guessing where what goes and it makes it easier and faster going back right.

If you made it this far i can imagine you can finish the whole thing!

I think there's a link to the factory service manual in the tech folder.

I haven't received anything yet , but today after work I should be done with my Engine Bracket for my engine stand . I had my son cut and measure and he did pretty good so once it's all ready to weld ill have him do the weld plugs and I'll finish the rest. So you can imagine how everything goes so slow since I have my son do lots of the things since I'm hoping he becomes like my mentor CHIP FOOSE , lol in the rotary world lol..

Well today Engine was taking apart ! And parts list for now And things to do ;

Clutch & pressure plate ?..
Rebuilt kit the Atkins 1360 master one or 1200 not sure .
If housings are ok and thier doable I may go with Goopy apex seals and Oem springs ..
Water pump ? Not an emergency looks real good and is not hard to change,
Housings ? He says their good but is my car so I'm taking to a few rotary shops to see what they think. My buddy is real good but if I get 2 opinions from doctors when I'm sick why not a few good rotary mechanics lol..
Rear o2 sensor
Oil cooler flush
Radiator flush
Change radiator reovirus sensor
Check cat

If anything else I miss please add I'm beat waking up at 430 everyday and in bed by 11pm or later sucks ,,
