I'm just so surprised it could make such a difference, wish I would have started doing this the day I bought the car.
I felt exactly the same, immediately from the start of premixing........you are not the only one.......you felt it correct........

I am thinking of starting to premix... Or use the Sohn Adapter... Suggestions? Premix does sound easier!

Try premixing once and see how you like it, should be an immediate change to the feeling of your car.

I've run 1oz per gallon many times with stock omp, and it always ran right.

So I put 1/2 to 1 every time I fillup depending on how much gas I need.

1 oz becomes about 3-4 times what my omp puts out so the engine motor oil is almost insignificant.

From what I have read, premix cannot take over the job of OMP. OMP puts lube directly on the apex seal, and even though the amount is smaller, the localized lube helps weakest part of the engine. premix kinda helps everywhere a little bit only.

I agree that dribbling oil on the seals is a great new idea on the renesis, but my RX3 and others in the 70's + dribbled the oil into the carb bowl which is the same as premixing, just at the last minute with the right amount for the load.

Those engines would last at least as long as the renisis.

but they don't make as much power as the renesis and still meet the tougher emission regulation now...oh well but what do I know I have just owned my first rotary for two months lol plus I got the idea from other people.

Your logic sucks!

I'm talking about the first Mazda rotaries were essentially premixed just before burning, lasted just as long as renesis, and you changed the subject to "they had less power and more pollution".

No **** Sherlock!

Well it's all about tradeoff in the engineering design. Of course technology is improving but if more power doesn't make the seal less reliable why doesn't every engine gets turbo or run to 18000 rpm?

Sorry I forgot to dumb down my logic so you could understand.

^ Ok, then, move on over to the FI threads, and annoy then with your silly questions.

Maybe they have an answer for perpetual motion or a thermodynamics breakthrough.

This thread is talking about improving the RX8 as designed by complementing the omp oil with premix.

Stupid follow-up replies aside, the main thing about the oil metering nozzles is that they reduce seal chatter. Premix does the rest.
That's why each system complements the other.

renesis engine needs the oil nozzles because the side seals are much closer to the front of the rotor now--plus side exhaust ports that makes the side seals and springs have a more demanding need for lubrication.
if you only premix you will not get whatever life expectancy you could have.

Ok well I've read through quite a few of the pages on this thread now, and once my BHR Ignition comes in I am going to start premixing with Idemitsu, probably using 4oz or 6oz per tank. I will post my results once I try it out!

EDIT: I think I will be ordering from Mazdatrix, as the Idemitsu website is telling me I need to be a wholesale buyer. Oh well :P

Without reading through 126 pages, can someone tell me if pretty much everyone is now premixing? I just bought my car on Sunday and hadn't even heard of this. What is the consencus oil to use, how much, and where can a guy get it? Thanks folks!

Sort of OFF Topic, But, I use Amsoil Saber Pro for Pre-Mix...

I was amazed just how good this product is...

This is my story......

On my house Front Door I have what we call a security screen door, with a 3 point striker and lock mechanism.

I have owned this door from new for about 10 years and noticed that the door itself was getting harder and harder to shut and to lock.

The Handles striker pin was severely dragging and catching on the door jam striker plate, as I live close to the beach the sea air has corroded this plate and door pin, so I have to SLAM it to shut.

Anyway, I just thought I would add some oil to the surface of the striker pin and plate, so I just lightly wiped some Saber Pro on it, and wiped it off so it won't get on clothing..

WELLLLLLL......the screen door just glides shut with NO force and the Auto shutter works like new.

So there you go, the lubricating properties of this product is very impressive.

No biggie but worth a mention... Yes..No..? ...well!

Just gunna throw this out there. When I first got my 8, I ran through a total of 4 bottles of Idemitsu. Then, I switched over to Amsoil Sabre for 4 bottles, and now I am back to the Idemitsu. This might sound silly, but my car sounds and feels a LOT smoother with the idemitsu. In both instances I ran about 8oz to a full tank, with 1oz of FP+. The amsoil was nice, but accelerating and idling with the idemitsu just feels so much more silky.

I had the complete opposite of you /\

I use Legend zx2-sr (good smell), if I can't find any Amsoil Sabre Pro I go for the Ipone (also good smell), if no Ipone i use Motul 800, same as Ipone but no strawberry smell.
Idemitsu is overrated imo, I know my sachs rotary is a bit different than our 13b-msp but, after rebuilting my smowmobile engine again, Idemitsu (recently) and Redline (three years ago) actually left surface rust on the bearings, and tarnished the carb brass. It also had a tendency to gum up the carb jets for some reason. How a metal surface can be both oily and have rust on it is beyond me, but clearly these oils lack any proper corrosion-inhibitors, and it must have very high levels of esters that give it a strong hygroscopic effect. I would never use it again, nor could I recommend it.
my 2cents again.

Thats very interesting, yea I mean I heard a lot of good things about the amsoil, not sure if maybe it was just the change in summer climates that threw things off a bit. One thing it did do though, was it left this coarse chunky stuff on the plastic that surrounds the gas filler neck. Granted that the purpose of that plastic is to prevent dribble from getting on the paint, it was a bit interesting. Maybe when I am done with the idemitsu (i have a case of 12 left lol) I will give some of the legend stuff a shot just for the sake of experience

Legend is not thick like some of the others. Mixes with petrol like a charm.

It smells like Ipone. Amsoil is pretty stinky, but way less stinky than Valvoline, and other generics.

Most us states should also have different summer\winter fuel mixtures
