Gas/Oil Premix Thread
Make sure to run it till it is warm and then thru the RPM regularly. When it gets cold, it can take over 10 miles to warm up, so be patient. When you do premix, mix it with gas before you pour it it. May be less of on issue with Idemitsu, but regular 2-stroke oils will pour straight down to the fuel pump and can clog the "sock" that filters the oil.

paimon.soror, thanks for the pics. If you do another pass, try out some MMO with Idemitsu too if you have some. I mixed those two for awhile, but eventually decided it was safer to stick with Idemitsu only and just increase the amount used.
What I do now instead of mixing Ide/MMO is run only Ide at 6oz/ per fillup. Then 2-3 times per year I'll run a quarter tank of premix-less gas with a can of Seafoam added, and run it through all the way to empty--or run it all through within no more than a day so it's not sitting in there too long.
If I get a chance I will go grab one of those tiny containers and fill it with some gasoline and run the same tests just so we can get a visual.
What i actually really found interesting is the "residue / coat" that was left behind after draining and flushing the cup. Granted one could argue that whatever bacteria was present at the walls of the glass would affect exactly how the product reacts, it is interesting to see how the amsoil differs from the idemitsu. Looks like the idem. leaves a nice thin layer behind, somewhat evenly coated. Amsoil seems to bubble up a bit and get rather "chunky", if you look close you can actually see some deposits left behind (they look like little poppys). Not sure but I dont think that could really be good over time. Again, this is all in hindsight considering we havn't really seen the effects of gasoline in the mix.

If I had an S2 I would just premix Idemitsu at 1/2oz per gallon (or 1oz per gallon if you can afford it) and call it a day. I know premixing 1oz per gallon is overkill but in my opinion there are no negative effects in doing it.

^^ lol, well I will play guinea pig and see how the car responds to amsoil after using idemitsu premix since its birth + 16miles. I gotta fill up on friday-ish so i will see if i can pour some gas in a container to take home and test with the premixes.
Right, but wouldn't we be banking on the two fluids to be mixed inside the tank prior to entering the engine? I guess the milliseconds to mix well would affect those who are running an SOHN res.

Pour and Pump, while driving around accelerating, braking, and taking turns at high speeds will help mix the premix and gasoline. Of course if you let premix and and gasoline just sit without any movement it will start to separate.

I would assume that emulsification is the same for oil as it is for dressing and that would mean that it should never seperate if done properly. I could be mistaken, but I would assume the word means the same thing.
If the particle size is small enough and it's mixed properly, yes, I was told by Silkolene that it can start to settle out after 6 months though (as it's rarely mixed perfectly).
