Wat are they for? wats the P flash or w/e do they make my MPG better ?

A "flash" is a software update of the computer on-board the RX-8 known as the Powertrain Control Module (PCM). The updates are intended to modify certain parameters of the PCM for a number of purposes including improving performance or fuel efficiency, and correcting issues discovered post manufacture.

For information and speculation on what the "P" flash was intended to correct/change, read the thread at the link below. It is doubtful that this flash, over the previous "M" or "N" flashes, had anything to do with fuel efficiency, although you will find posts in the thread that suggest improvements in fuel efficiency following an update to the "P" level. However, if your car is at a significantly lower level, say "L", you may very well experience an improvement in efficiency.
