final drive mods?

While trying to decide between the S2000 and an RX-8, I noticed that many of the S2000 owners recommended changing out the final drive gears in order to get more agressive gearing. I'll admit that the S2000 is the only car where I've heard of final drive mods being made (perhaps because of it's 9000rpm rev range?) but wouldn't something similar be helpful in an RX-8 as well? Of course there's the usual speedometer being off but that can be fixed as well. Just a thought...

first- this is done all the time with american muscle cars.

second- have you driven the car yet? perhaps you should do so before thinking about gearing mods. you just might find you like it just hte way it is.

Ahh, that explains things, I've never owned nor have I ever been interested in owning an american muscle car.

No, I've been waiting to test out the car and certainly if I end up purchasing one, I would wait till I were well acclimated with the characteristics of the car before plunking down more money for mods. My propensity for cheapness almost exceeds my propensity for speed :D

Just musing about various upgrade paths that don't involve forced induction...
