i was talking to a local known rotary shop owner about my 8 and he was mentioning he doesnt like to even tune the motors unless they have a fd swap and was trying to convince me thats the best way to go as far as getting reliable high power. Im not looking to make 400whp but the idea intriguing. Its very costly but does the fd have issues our motors have with coldstarts etc..(having it warm up before operating and shutting down?)

How much would a swap like this cost? Im not familiar with the price of the fd motors and are there any other alternative engine swaps besides the vet motor that i would never do.

You can skip that shop altogether. cuz he still doesn't know what 13B-MSP is all about, it's NOT for pure power. It's for emission.

not to mention with it's not that hard to get to 350rwhp.

 

it is not that hard but really expensive..with a greddy turbo kit you only gain 60hp and dont even ask how much a greddy turbo kit cost...

 

Yeah because spending 15k on a single turbo REW swap isn't expensive

So doing a COMPLETE swap which cost at LEAST 15K and not surprised to see 25K if you want 350rwhp is any better ?

a Greddy Turbo cost? 4 K ? even with all the upgrades you need to get it to push around 80~100 hp more, it will be less than 10K ?

your logic fails more than the bs shop who knows nothing about rx8 ...
