Exotic speed header installation
Hello gurus,
10 minutes after the full exhaust installation (header, mid pipe, exhaust) my engine light went on (right after the shop closed).
1st assumption, sensor problem, i check the sensors right after i arrived the house, everything is in place and tight.
This morning, when i take out the stock header from my trunk, i noticed that there is an adaptor attached to the stock header... that means that the sensor is attached directly to the exotic speed header.
Question:
Since, it is Sunday and i cannot find any open shop nearby today, does driving around will damage the sensor attached to the header without the adapter? i tried to fix it my self, but my tools are not enough to do the job.
Any input will be very much appreciated..
Regards,
Chris

One more thing...
The stock mount/plate of the oem header to the car doesn't fit the exotic speed header.
See image attached, no plate attached as of the moment ...
Any other users here has the same problem with the mounting of exotic speed header?
I already email the seller/exotic speed about the plate/mount if they suppose to provide it.

If you installed a cat-less mid-pipe then you check engine light normally comes on.
I have no idea about the adapter on the stock header but if you have access to a code reader i'm sure it is the second O2 sensor because of the removal of the catalytic converter.

That adapter might be important, I would e-mail exoticspeed and ask them. I litterally just sent them an e-mail reguarding their mid-pipe so idk how good or fast they reply yet. Guess 10 minutes isn't really fair on a sunday. But if the gasket is not required I would not worry too much about the cel as long as you check the codes and they are cat related. Even though you have a high flow cat it could still throw a cel easily because of the difference.

Ok, copy...
so we really cant tell until we check the codes, but the mid pipe might be the culprit also...
anyone with the experience will solve this problem though...
I'm also worried to drive around because im not sure if it will damage the sensor.

Its normal to have a CEL with a midpipe.
Since the rear O2 sensor checks the efficiency of your cat (which is no longer inline), its letting your know there is a problem (obviously).
Only way to mask the CEL is to purchase the Cobb AccessPort and disable the bit for that particular code.
This way, you'll know if another DTC code is generated..

another one from John:
Should i change my battery and upgrade my starter?
Regards,
Chris
You removed the catalytic converter... so of course you're going to get a CEL.
The rear O2 sensor is there to monitor the cat's efficiency... which is telling you there is now a "problem".
If you have an '04 or early '05, then you likely need an upgraded starter and new battery (if still OEM).
Its a common problem with those years.

ohhh my...
I didn't do my research very well... my bad...
issues are keep on popping up...
i encounter this yesterday on my 30min-1hr drive to freeway...
and i assume this one too...
I felt the heat inside my car while im drive on the freeway... the only possible reason to cause this heat is the midpipe i installed...
Is it worth it to tune my exhaust set-up or just replace it with the OEM? can the coob access port fix this issues?
It seems that there's a lot more issues than success on having this kind of exhaust set-up...

Chris

The o2 sensor tells the engine how much fuel to send into the engine. If it's broken it could tell the fuel injection system not to send enough fuel. Unfortunately, I can't totally rule out the fuel pump. The symptoms are very similar as they're both fuel starvation problems.
and i assume this one too...
The CEL light started blinking for mis-fire one day so I babied the car to the garage, I didn't have to go far.
I even stopped twice to let the exhaust cool down because it was getting hot.
Dad said he could see the CAT glowing cherry red.
I'm assuming since my CAT was glowing red, I probably melted the insides of the cat?
I have some sort of aftermarket 3" high flow cat, also obx catback exhaust and obx chrome headers if that matters.
My question is assuming my CAT is melted or messed up, how will this affect the car?
Can I clean out the CAT and gut it? Will this hurt anything? Is the CAT difficult to get off? I don't really care that the CEL is on. I just don't want to hurt anything.
