engine ticks

okay the engine ticks, duh

when you lift the hood it is coming from the left side (usa passenger side)

it gets faster or slower due to rpms

comes from the engine, right where intake manifold is, where the black plastic meets the cast iron housing, or right at entry of cold air.

very close to the altenator

what is it?

Check the hoses. Look for a leak.

It has been reported that sometimes its a problem and sometimes it just makes noise in that area.

lets try this again

okay lets try this again... the sound it coming from the passenger side or left if you are looking at the car from the front... the coils spark plugs and everything to do with the ignition is on the drivers side or right... the altenator is on the left side right next to where the black plastic meets the intake manifold... with that said, what would make noise, the engine has nothing to tick, but there are valves right there where the ticking is coming from.. could one of those valves being stuck cause it to tick?

the only thing could be your spark plug wires as they are not covering the spark plug completely....this happened to me, i went into an ally and revved the engine a lil more, as i revved the tick go faster, then i thought to myself what could it be? it could only be the the spark plugs igniting...i let the car cool down, looked down at my spark plugs and saw the white part of it sticking out, i reach in wiggle it and noticed it was loose, so i pushed it in more and tighten it. got back into the car and started it and heard nothing

it isn't the spark plugs i know it is coming from that side casue i have ears and i use them. I stuck my head into the engine bay and followd the sound it is coming from where the ssv valve is and tuff if you follow the air flow it is coming from where the air enters the engine.. it isn't spark plugs.. the spark plugs are new i am getting wires and coils next week or sometime in the near future but i know for a fact it isn't spark plugs...

have you tried the ole long handle screw driver to the ear trick ?
Basically you put the head of the screwdriver to your ear and place the tip where you think the noise is coming from then move it around till it is at it's loudest .
That should narrow it down quite a bit .
