Electrical problem
I've noticed in the past few days that my blinkers no longer blink when i lock/unlock the car. They function normally otherwise. Neither of my 12v power outlets work either. I did spill a tasty beverage in the region of my shiftknob/ashtray, and likely shorted the cigarette lighter right there. I replaced the top fuse in the interior fusebox and it's still not working. Any ideas?

well, my 12v's may have never worked before. i didnt know until a few weeks ago, my buddy told me he couldnt charge his phone when i loaned him my keys. i did spill water in there, so it's probably shorted, but the fuse is fine.

Brian, I'm assuming that since you replaced a fuse that it was blown, right? Also, I'm assuming that the remote lock/unlock still works, only you get no confirming light blink, right? If you lock the car with the remote and then push the lock button again do you get a short beep from the horn? If not, then you have a second blown fuse somewhere.

Brian,
I have not checked my 12v outlets yet but am having a similar problem with arming and disarming but it seems to be intermittent. I had to re-arm to get the lights to blink. I thought it was probably the fob receiver having the problem but will check the outlets when this happens again.

not sure, like i said i really have no use for them. it makes alot of sense that the water would have just shorted that outlet and blown a fuse, but the fuse is kosher. could a relay be blown perhaps?

relay #13 controls all acc, which is where both 12v outlets are sourced. and if that was not working i think you would have noticed it.
fuse #1 is the cig fuse. fuse#2 is the acc fuse. if on outlet is working and not the other my guess is something did not get plugged in after the nav. thing.

Brian, according to factory wiring manual the cigarette lighter, auxilliary 12 volt socket, power mirrors, and navigation system are all part of what's called the "ACC Relay/Cigarette Lighter" circuit. There is a 30 amp fusible link fed off the main 120 amp fusible link from the battery which supplies power to the ACC Relay. Downstream of the ACC relay there are three(3) separately fused circuits: 15 amp for cigarette lighter; 20 amp for auxilliary 12 volt socket; and 7.5 amp for navigation system, power mirrors, and audio unit.
Since neither your lighter or aux. socket work, then the 15 amp AND the 20 amp fuses would have to be blown or not making good contact in the fuse holder. You can check to see if there is power to these with a test light probe which is connected to a known good ground. If there is power when you check with the light probe, then there could be faulty grounds. If you have been fiddling around with the audio or nav, systems you may have disturbed the grounds.

Also, if the ACC Relay (in the box under the hood) is bad, then your nav. system and power mirrors will not work either since all of the above mentioned functions are common to the same terminal on the relay.

yeah, all my other acc's functions just fine. and the light in the ashtray works. I'll get in there with a meter tomorrow and see whats up.
Two things that may or may not be related....
I've noticed imtermittent reception of GPS signals from the nav. Of course, it continues to track me using the dsc sensors (which damn, those work good). this is like the hole in the ozone layer. i happened to notice it one day, and now i seem to notice it all the time. could have been there for ever. The nav screen will very rarely flicker, and sometimes the NAV system just reboots. I can't seem to pin it down to another event (rough road, extreme temperature, etc).
I also have my radar detector hardwired to the 15a #1 fuse on the fusebox. the lighter still doesnt function with that wire removed.
all in all, im not too worried about it. worst case scenario, i get to rock the rental car for a day while the srevice techs figure it out.

If you have power thru the fuse to other functions, then I would definitely look for the grounding issues. Loose grounds can cause all the intermitent "flickers" etc., and bad or unconnected grounds can cause complete loss of function. The lights at the lighter and the ash tray are on a separate circuit, so they aren't part of your problem. Good luck sorting it out.
