DSC and TC

Yes I know what your thinking there are a ton of posts about this..yes I have looked. however I couldnt find anything for exactly what I want.... I have the 05 GT so I have TC and dsc...is there any way that i can keep the off at all times without having to push and hold the button everytime i start the car?..if there is, are there other things that will be affected? and do you personally think its a good or bad idea to turn of TC and dsc..for me I feel like the car does alot of driving for me and i dont feel like that is helping me improve on any driving skills..wether its general or a little racing here and there

if you're honestly looking to improve your driving skills then leave it on. every time the light comes on you basically failed. think of it like the game of operation, and if you hit the edge you get zapped!

Yes there is a way to permanently disable it. But it also disables your ABS.

TCS, ABS, and DSC are all safety features. You can't suddenly turn them on when you need them, just like you can't suddenly put on a seat belt right before you slam into the tree. Just like a seat belt, you will never need it most of the time, but all it takes is saving your car, your life, someone else's life once and suddenly it was totally worth it. Are you going to be another person on here: "I had turned it off, and now I wish I hadn't."

They do NOT interfere with normal driving at all. If you are triggering any one of the three, you are pushing beyond the available traction, and quite frankly, snow and ice driving (with proper tires) is the only time this is actually acceptable. For these situations just tap it off until you are moving and then back on.

They aren't doing any "driving for you". Not one bit.

Agreed. Turn it off on the track; leave it on on the road. Many auto journalists noted how the 8's DSC/TC give you a long leash before kicking in.

I run with it off on the track. If I mistakenly leave it on, it is activating too often. Maybe, I just have the car set up real loose. On ice and snow, I find it doesn't come on soon enough. The car gets way out of shape before dsc kicks in.

You can push the DSC button. This will partially disable it. Holding it down for 20 sec. will fully disable it. It will however store a code in the computer that it was disabled. The dealer never paid any attention to it in my case and just reset all the codes.

There are threads out there that tell you how to disable both of them without the button, but as someone said you also lose ABS. You really do not want to lose your ABS.

Odd, my ABS kicked in when I had my DSC and T/C fully disabled by holding down the switch.

The switch does not disable ABS in any form.

He was asking about a way to disable TCS/DSC without using the switch, so he doesn't have to turn it off every time he gets in the car. Kind of like asking how to cut the seat belt so that he can leave it plugged in, so he doesn't have to manually plug it in every time he gets in to fool the computer into not beeping at him. THAT method will also disable the ABS, since the TCS/DSC system is integrated with ABS. The switch just changes a code flag of being enabled or not. Other methods basically shut down the whole computer.

I am intentionally refraining from pointing out how to disable it permanently, since it's stupid to do so.

Why don't you just turn it off right when you turn on the car, integrate it into your habits of seat belt, radio, ect.. ^_^

Go ahead and disable it, and then when you get in a wreck and someone gets hurt and the insurance companies and police find out you disabled it on purpose then don't come crying here when you have no insurance or license and you are in jail and being sued.

Even driving in some states with a safety feature knowingly disabled is against the law.

I understand everyone's points. However for people tracking the car, this would be useful.

DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK!

A) He wants to do it on public roads,
B) Turning it off before or during a track session is hardly difficult

I think for a lot of people it would be fine to disable it every time with the button push method. Most people on this site are smart enough to not drive like complete idiots but obviously there are exceptions. However I agree that if he disables it without the switch and knows he is losing abs that doesn't put him in that category.

I drive every day without dsc/tcs(not by choice, just don't have it) and it is annoying in the rain but that is about it. In heavy rain where there is good amounts of water on the ground I am fine. When it just sprinkles it is hell and super slippery but I just drive slower and don't accelerate like normal. When it is sprinkling I can just gas it a bit in gear and start going sideways so I definitely have to be careful.
