Does NE1 have Key Blanks for '05 key?

I have an '05 key, but need a blank to cut. I'm told that I have to replace the entire upper portion, but when I look at the key in the midway position between in and out, I see there's a pin holding in the keyed portion. I'd like to get just one of these in a blank. Otherwise, I'll get an entire upper portion. The dealer wants over $70 for it, though! Does anyone have them for cheaper? Thanks!

Check with one of the forum sponsors, either Matt at Rx8garage.net or Rosenthal or Trussville Mazda.

Dealer's are a rip off on those keys, however, if you want just the key and no transmitter, you can simply get the 04' key, it'll be a lot cheaper than the 05' keys unless you're looking to replace the top portion

BTW, where do you guys get your keys cut at? I went to Home Depot yesterday, they tried but couldn't do it. It worked just fine with a regular key but when they tried the 05 keys, it wouldn't even start (the machine I mean).

go to the parts department of your dealership...they usually cut it for free if you ask them nicely

Finally got it done yesterday at a lock smith place. Closest Mazda dealer is about 30 mins away and by the time I get off work, they're closed and I don't want to wait till the weekend.. was a cinch to get it programed though.
