Cool

Sock type filter around the in-tank fuel pump assembly, and a felt pad type INSIDE the pump - no other filter.....

To reach -
lift up passenger side seat bottom and remove,
unscrew phillips screws on cover plate,
bleed off pressure at connector near master cylinder,
undo hoses,
undo electrical connector,
unscrew plastic pump top ring (mazda has a tool)
lift out whole pump assembly.

Why would you need to get to it? Are you replacing it?

Oh cool! I always assumed you had to drop the gas tank...

Curious also as to why you need to get to it?

on the workshop manual it said "replace fuel filter every 37500 miles"....so I went to a mazda dealership where my friend's friend is the owner of the place....he said rx8 do not have a fuel filter...only thing you can do is replace the whole pump, he said they probably copy and paste that manual from the rx7 workbook

it's not 37500 miles, it's 100,000 miles.
