Disconnecting ESS vs depressing accelerator

I read in the engine removal thread that you can disconnect the ESS to prevent the engine starting, in order to build oil pressure after a rebuild. Would holding the accelerator to the floor have the same effect, since doing that electronically prevents fuel injection?

Yes it does .You do get spark but that isn't an ssue so long as your plugs are connected .
