Difference between Highpower and Standard?

Hi guys, been lurking around this forum a while now, first of just wanna thank you all, and I think most of you contribute to this forum in a great way

and I have finally decided to buy myself a RX8! :D

I live in Norway and the two options I have is(wiki):

6-speed manual "High Power" with a claimed output of 184 kW (250 PS; 247 hp) and a 9,000 rpm redline

5-speed manual "Standard Power" tuned to 141 kW (192 PS; 189 hp) with the redline reduced to 7,500 rpm

What other differences are there between these two models? The standard one is easily obtained compared to the Highpower.

tl:dr
What is the difference between Highpower and Standard?(except the stated)

Thanks!
Frode

I'm pretty sure those are the only differences. You have already read the wiki page so I wont quote from there but it says exactly whats different about the engines. If you have a choice go with the "high power" one.

Theres other differences in the car based on the trim package you choose, sport, touring, grand touring, r3, depending on what year rx8 your looking at. Pretty sure I didnt miss a trim name but I might have. Look those up and decide.

The standard is a 4 intake port engine and the high power is a 6 port. The standard engine was available in North America only with the automatic transmission cars. Later models of the automatic transmission cars came with the 6 port engine. All North America manual transmission cars came with the 6 speed box with the 6 port engine.

those differences are rather major and should basically influence your decision.

Yes, I know they are pretty major, but at this very moment there is a total of 16! RX8 with licenseplates for sale in Norway.. 1 of them a highpower with bad history.

Think Ill just hold out a bit longer, and look for a flawless Highpower then. Thanks for the replies

I don't know what tariffs or taxes are involved, but could you import one from one of the other Scandinavian countries or Europe? I believe that I remember there being another Norwegian owner on the site. Read some of the posts in the European regional forum and you could find him. Maybe he or someone else there can help with any questions you may have.
