Dealer Service Codes
Anybody recognize some of these?
I bought a 2004 RX-8 and asked the dealer for a maintenance history. He gave me a summary and the descriptions are cut off. For example:
11MAZ Engine Repair 10/2007
99MAZZ65 4206F RX8 Emission 10/2007 Kit Catalytic Convertor
99MAZ Recalls Campaign - the detail on this one said SSP16 Lack Power 5/2008 MSP16
99MAZZ75 3305G RX8 Fuel T 4/2006 - Pad, Insulator

1st one is tough, not sure....looks like it could have been anything????
Most will recognize the middle two.
2nd is flash update to the ECU and should've been done long ago. In fact, In the summer of 2006, a major emissions related recall was conducted on 2004-2006 RX8’s related to catalytic converter, and in some cases engine failures. For most people, the recall simply involved a PCM update, some owners had faulty catalytic converters replaced, and some owners had engines replaced. So the fact that this was done is a very good thing!
3rd one is a TSB for lack of power, you can read up on it here to see what all was done.

4th one I hadn't heard of, but found this post by searching!

Dunno about this one, Maybe De-carb? or Engine replacement.
4206F and MSP16 recall, usually a ECU update, but it seems that they checked the Rear O2 and your CAT was bad. they replaced it under warranty.
This is the 2nd recall, Added a heat insulator to prevent high heat coming from excessive idle. ECU update.

Thanks to both of you! I appreciate getting as much history as I can.
Any things I can look for that would indicate if I got a new engine? How about if I got a new battery/starter?
The car has 33k. I got it a week ago and have changed oil, trans and diff fluid and air filter. I started running premix. The air filter I pulled out is a K&N, so I will clean that and store it till spring. I plan to run the car at two road courses next year - Brainerd (local) and Road America.
Right now I am looking for snows and I also watch for track wheels for next year. I'll get a track alignment with what is possible from the stock suspension and see how the handling compares to the 1997 M3 I just sold.
Thanks for listening!

All of the records i originally had were for one dealer (34575). Dealer 10809 has a record of 3/26/2008 that says "Engine, Short M/T". Anyone else with this on the Mazda North America operations Warranty Vehicle history Report? The dealer said what they did was install the upgraded starter and battery. Don't know how that comes out to Engine, Short M/T.
How does the Powertrain Warranty Extension work datewise? It shows a start date of 8/21/2006, which is probably when the notice came out. The status still says "open" on this warranty even though it is more than 5 years after the retail date of the car. Is it supposed to be open 5 years from the 8/21/2006 date?
The person i bought it from bought it on 4/29/08. Then several warranty items happened on 5/16/2008. I have sent a letter to the original owner to ask him what he will tell me about the car.
Any further suggestions /information? Thanks everyone!
