Just got a call from service manager regarding other issues that have popped up. I was told that when they disconnected the flex coupling for the steering that it was corroded inside and they recommend replacing it ($126). Steering felt absolutely fine when I dropped it off so I'm wondering if its ok to take a pass on that. I was also told that my oil injectors are bad and they must be replaced ($716) along with gaskets, insulator, and connector ($90.44)
They want me to go there in person to show me firsthand because they know I've been questioning everything.
At least they said my fuel injectors are fine.
What do you guys think about steering and oil injectors?

The steering connector can be cleaned yourself and if it was not acting up then I would pass. That harness can be bought new for $80.00 and done at a later date.
Failed oil injectors are common but all of them should only run about $350.00 for all four, I replaced mine and bought them new from the dealer as well the oil injector lines which are about $200.00 IIRC so again $716 to replace just the four oil injectors which is something they have to remove and reinstall anyway (no labor charges shoudl be applied) is bullshit.
04-08 Rx8 Oil Metering Line Kit (ARE109)
I would make them vacuum test each oil injector in front of me.

So I got my car back. engine did come with flywheel so clutch cost $600. Oil injectors were $400. Car seemed to be running fine until today when I heard a noise as I was driving. I thought something had fallen out the bottom and was dragging on street but then It got quieter but there was still a noise. I was 2 miles from my house so when I got home and looked underneath I didn't see anything. Opened hood and at first thought sound was coming from alternator but looking down with flashlight it looks like the belt on the most forward pulleys snapped.
Can anyone tell me what this belt was for and should I have the car towed back to dealer? Dealer is about 10 miles from my house.

You CAN drive it to them, but in the interest of liability, I wouldn't recommend it.
Also verify the other belt isn't at risk. You don't want that one to pop, it drives the water pump. Did they use new belts or take ones off the old engine?

The belt on the alternator looks new. Could they have tensioned it too tight? I was hoping it was the AC. But I will take your advice and call them in morning. Can't wait too see what they say. I definitely don't want to drive it and risk any further damage.
Thank you for the info.

on closer inspection, belt seems to have come off the pulley and is wedged in amongst the base of the pulleys. I also see some shredded belt on the left hand side

Dealer was very good about taking care of this. They sent a flatbed and feel that the pulley got bent at some point which caused the belt to come off. They still had my old engine so used the pulley from that. I was told that they road tested it for 20 miles and as far as they can tell it should be ok now. Put new belts on and no charge at all. I hope my bad luck has finally run out
