Couple Issues

First I've been getting the airbag light come on for the past week. Before it would come on and go away and this was about 3months ago, but now it just stays on.

It blinks about 4 times in a set of 3 blinks, than it goes solid. I checked the cables under the seats and they look fine.

The car is an 04 with 53K, I haven't never touched any of the wires expect the ones in the maplights.





Second issue is the LED Display, this started in the summer when the temperature got really hot in the car it would go nuts show Chinese mumbo jumbo. But its winter time and it goes on and off now, longest was about 1hr of mumbo jumbo.

Did you re-seat the cables under the seat or just visually look at them?
People have had to actually disconnect then reconnect the harness.

No I havent plugged out and plugged back in the wires but they seem fine, but i was looking around and found out that it is a recall and it should be fixed for free, so Im gonna give mazda a call and make an appointment, but the LCD display is still messing up.

Someone told me that they had the same exact problem and it was the cd player that was causing the problem, and I dont know. Any one hear of this?

I had an airbag light problem and fixed it by re-seating the connectors under the dash and securing one so it didn't jiggle. Iirc, in my case these were yellow connector(s) under the dash on the passenger side. Identified them with the shop wiring diagram. About 2 years ago and problem hasn't come back.

hmm look what i found =p So im gonna give mazda a call sometime soon

SUMMARY:
AIR BAGS:FRONTAL
DESCRIPTION:
AS A RESULT OF AN NCAP TEST, CERTAIN PASSENGER VEHICLES ARE BEING RECALLED FOR IMPROPERLY WIRED FRONT PASSENGER SEAT AIR BAGS.
CONSEQUENCE:
THE AIR BAG WILL NOT PROVIDE ADEQUATE PROTECTION WHEN THE VEHICLE IS INVOLVED IN A FRONTAL CRASH.
CORRECTIVE ACTION:
DEALERS WILL INSTALL A NEW WIRING HARNESS IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT AIR BAG SYSTEM. THE RECALL BEGAN MARCH 5, 2004. OWNERS SHOULD CONTACT MAZDA AT 1-800-222-5500.
NOTES:
MAZDA RECALL NO. 1604B-B.CUSTOMERS CAN ALSO CONTACT THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION+S AUTO SAFETY HOTLINE AT 1-888-DASH-2-DOT (1-888-327-4236).

The LED display in the center -- the mother board needs replaceing. and for your new one, you need the one out of an 2006 rx8 to fully fix your problem..

I had mine done under warranty.. So you could try the stealership or look on ebay or go to a junk yard that has a wrecked 8. maybe post a WTB thread in the classified section.
