Coil test OHM results - Out of spec or okay?

So I tested all 4 of my coils yesterday to see if this could be quite a problem. The coils havn't been changed since like,46k miles and I have a 83k on the clock. The plugs havn't been changed since about 58k. Probably overdue, but either way i'd like to know what the acceptable tolerances are. So here are my results:

Coil test procedure:
Pos A Neg B
Pos B Neg C
Pos C Neg A

Coil1:
1.64
8.06
OL

Coil2:
1.62
7.76
OL

Coil3:
1.57
8.35
OL

Coil4:
1.57
8.46
OL

This was done from left to right. Anyone know what this means/in tolerance or?? I'll keep searching in the meantime. Test was in Ohm (m)

Ignition Coils can test with in spec and still be causing problems. Are you having problems? But if my coils had 37k miles on them i would replace them.

I tested 3 sets of coils last December...

https://www.rx8club.com/showpost.php...ostcount=40324
So coil testing.

I set my digital multimeter to Ohms, and on the buzzer. The test guidelines dictate that
- between terminals A and B, there should not be 0 or infinity
- between terminals B and C, there should not be 0 or infinity
- between terminals A and C there should not be continuity, 0 to several kilohm.

Removed set, ~16,000 miles, I don't know which one was in which spot on the 8. I should have marked them.
Numbers are A to B, B to C, A to C
Coil #1: 804, 536, 608
Coil #2: 805, 540, 629
Coil #3: 770, 542, 620
Coil #4: 805, 544, 622

Installed set, brand new, 10 miles on them, numbered from front to rear in installation position:
Coil #1: 712, 477, 561
Coil #2: 768, 482, 577
Coil #3: 723, 490, 566
Coil #4: 713, 497, 572

And just for kicks, my original factory coils (which I still have), ~35,000 miles on them before getting a few misfires up high, no noticable power loss, replaced coils and misfires disappeared. Unknown order in the 8.
Coil #1: 800, 558, 645
Coil #2: 806, 557, 640
Coil #3: 814, 556, 647
Coil #4: 806, 555, 645
Remarkably identical in values across all 4, especially compared with the 2 other sets.

The brand new set has the absolute lowest values of any of the sets, and since it's Ohms, which is resistance if I am remembering correctly, then they have the lowest resistance, the original factory 35k set has the highest resistance, and the 16k set has slightly lower resistance than the 35k set.

Coil #2 on the brand new set has the highest resistance values of the 4 brand new ones, but still better than any of the other coils, so nothing better that I can swap it to.
Ignore the reason, it ended up being a clogged cat, but these are more numbers for you.

it doesnt matter, even brand new coil misfires.

I shall. The car is down for the count atm due to a collision so im taking the time to look over things. I was experiencing a seemingly sudden loss of power in the upper rpm range about a week before the collision.

Before I spend the cash on the BHR system I just want to make sure that is indeed the issue. If its the engine then I would need to relocate those funds, Guess its compression test time.

Eh, it's not too bad - Need a new front bumper, undertray, right fender, fender liner, and paint touch up along the passenger side. Insurance might be issueing the money to me to take it upon myself to fix it. So full vertex kit might be soon

make sure they give you enough money first though ... cuz most of the time insurance will low ball the first estimate.
