Clutch time 2007

Does anyone know why the 2006-2008 Exedy clutches are a different (more$) part number? Is it just t/o bearing that’s different? MKZ1007 is pn. MKZ1002 is 2003-2005. I’m just looking for stock or stock replacement. I have RB flywheel already.I searched but couldn’t find the thread that describes the difference.

Answering my own question here. The Mkz1007 kit appears to have a different disc, MZD111. The MKZ1002 kit has a MZD101 disc. Rockauto call the MZD111 a WAD style disc, whatever that means.
The MKZ1002 is the cheaper kit, by a lot.
This is what was on my 2007 for the last 100k miles or more. It would have gone longer but the Koyo TO bearing failed after only 87k miles. That bearing came with an Exedy bearing and centering tool kit purchased in 2021. So the impression I had gotten from posts here that the TO bearing had gotten better in the Exedy kits may not be correct. I use neutral all the time, and don't ride the pedal at all. I ordered a *** bearing this time, let’s see how it goes.

The throw outs are such junk, if anyone prefers one over another please post here. The only one I never had problems with was one that I packed additional grease into. I just got tired of hearing the bearing start to make noise so when it was time I packed grease into a new exedy throw out. That one had roughly 40k then I needed to replace my engine and wouldn’t you know I put a new one in without grease and that one started making noise at roughly 10k miles.

*** bearing, PN MC1334. Has a resin base with air vents. I went with this one because it looked like it had some thought and engineering in its design, perhaps solving the short life problem.
FWIW it has much less internal friction than the one that came in the Exedy kit. We will see how it goes.
