The starter interlock and clutch pedal position switches sometimes make a bit of a popping noise, but is not an issue.

The spring itself can also make a noise at both transition points, again not really an issue.

Do keep monitoring for any signs of degradation and better get the plate welded or braced.

Good view of the switches linked:

When your clutch baseplate is in the process of metal fatigue just prior to factory weld failure it's more of a squeeking sound, whereas the switch and spring are more the 'popping' sound you describe, so you should be fine on your trip.

If you have above 30k miles, and/or have a heavy clutch foot, do look to reinforcement asap.

Unfortunately there's not as easy a fix for the spring-plastic mating part degradation, but that is a much more rare malady then the baseplate spot weld failures.
