Clutch Petal Crack

Man...

It was a normal day getting off the freeway, my car was driving pretty smooth as usual...

I'm at a light waiting for the green. The light changes and I press down on the clutch and then...

CRACK!!

Something goes off down below.. I'm freaking out at this point...

Now my pedal feels awkward and unstable when I shift.. and an hour later it starts to make these "creeeekkking" noise whenever I shift. I think my springs may have broke..

Anybody know what this might be..

The welds on your clutch pedal broke and it is a rather common, though unacceptable, situation that seems to happen on cars that have the factory clutch, around 50K miles, and even quicker on cars with H.D. pressure plates. It is a warranty item. I am building a bracket that will help prevent this but my machinist needs a little encouragement to keep the project rolling. Once I get a working prototype I have a close friend I can count on who will mass-produce them for me and we can all be happy. I get back into MI next week and I'll get on it right away. A lot of people want this so I need to put it ahead of a few other things.

BTW, have your pedal assembly replaced by the dealer asap or your transmission will start to grind and possibly suffer damage.

thanks again for the look out, I was really freaked out when it happened, I started messing around with the clutch cuz I thought I could fix it myself (loose screws or something like that). I'm going to the dealer first thing tomorrow. Appreciate the help.

Those of you reaching 50k prepare thyselves

I am at 106,000 miles and waiting to give Charles money for this item. So far my OEM clutch pedal is working, but with my current ACT setup his fix is something I want to install ASAP.

The powertrain warranty is pretty much engine, transmission and rear end. The only clutch part they list is the pressure plate.

Anybody has the picture of the *broken bracket* ?

Cuz my car is in the dealership right now, the bracket was moving left and right *CRH should know what Im talking about*, I told the dealership guys that it had some hard shift problem. he was like if its not warranty covered then I have to pay 115 for diagnostic fee ~~~~ screw that.

maybe have them replace the whole tranny alltogether (cuz I have a problem shifting from 1st to 2nd too)

I want to print it and show them what I was talking about.

I have a feeling that they're waiting on Mazda's reply on *how should they deal with the issue*

I will try to find that pic.

*sigh* , lets just hope that the techs will actually fix whatever I asked them to ... without any money outa my pocket of course

the best would be, replace the tranny and clutch bracket all together.

oh wait, i just remember. I have the SS clutch hose there ... will they blame it for clutch bracket/Tranny failure ?

They covered mine even though I had an ACT clutch and pressure plate installed, though they did the installation.

Here's that other thread - https://www.rx8club.com/series-i-tech-garage-22/aftermarket-clutch-bracket-assembly-107803/

Yeah I just found the thread.

Hmm. how Im wondering, is the Autoexe Brace for the Clutch, or for the Brake ?

savedol said its for brakes. but no matter how many times I look at the picture. It still looks like its for the clutch.

I dont know. Maybe its time for someone to find out (maybe me ...)

Yeah, savedol is right. Its for Brake.

Hmm , I got the mag for so long but I never really read it.

Autoexe MasterVAC brace:

"Its a Master Cylinder product, but the concept is completely unique. First it has 2 metal piece to support the Power drum and pump bolts area, in order to lower the *back pressure* from braking. Then there are another 2 metal piece to secure the Power Drum, in order to get rid of the *pressure* going the outside. It can help to get rid of the *fluffy* feeling when braking."

Aluminum Alloy FW, Clutch is made of Copper and high fiction material.

I wonder how this sucker will do for streets use. I have a feeling its going to be a leg killer.
