clutch catches really late. normal?
hello guys.
I'm looking at buying an rx-8 and thus went to go test drive whats pretty much the ONLY manual tranny one within a 100 miles of me (thus I cant go test drive another to compare) I noticed that the clutch seemed to catch really late compared to any other manual I've driven. however, I have not driven an rx-8 before this. Therefore, I'm wondering if this is normal for this car, or if it means the clutch is probably on its way out (its a 2005 with 80k miles). Also noticed the clutch was really light compared to most.
Thanks for any help guys! much appreciated.

First you should drive another rx8 and be sure that it is abnormal for the car, and simply not an engagement point you are not used to.
if it engages cleanly, and does not slip when engaged, the clutch itself is probably fine.
Our clutch pedal is adjustable, with regards to both how far it travels, and where along that travel it enagages. You need to look at the manual diagram, and lay sorta upside down in the footwell with a flashlight, but you can adjust it with two wrenches, not too hard.
Most likely someone didnt put it together properly when working on the clutch or clutch pedal (you should find out why it was changed in the first place!)
