Cleaning my K&N filter

So I bought the K&N recharging kit and I am spraying the cleaner on (liberally) and rinsing it just as instructed. (Low water pressure, 10 minutes after spraying it) I have done this at least 5 times. Most of the dirt and stuff is gone but there are still some pretty big objects up in the grooves of the dirty side that just wont budge. I have tried waiting less than 10 minutes befor rinsing, i have tried water pressure that is slightly higher. Nothing. The objects are pieces of leaves and stems that are very deep in the grooves and basically stuck up there. Any tips on how to get these objects out? I'm getting frustrated and I'm not sure if it is safe to stick anything up in there to pry them out.

I'd answer your question, but I'm too busy wiping the tears away from my eyes after watching your signature movie

That sig is pretty funny.

Okay, I took a tooth pick and very, very carefully picked the stuff out.
I have the Revi intake so it's a big round one, don't know if you said what you had, but I know the whole friggin process took like 3 hours to clean and oil the friggin filter! If you have the same, try not to damage the mesh in there, you'll know what I'm talking about.

Ok i've finished pissing myself over your sig now so I'll atempt to answer .

I get a fine jewelers screwdriver and while holding the filter upside down and bending the filter back on itself to open up the cleats - gently prize out the crap .
