Chewed up 1st gear?

Ive heard this phrased used alot on the forums, and i think it means you chew up your gears in 1st gear that makes it non-driveable. If iam right dose this mean the transmission isnt really good for high rpm clutch drops? Just wondeirng....

I don't know ... since I plan on keeping my car, I have only done one clutch drop from around 6000 rpm. Since then it's all smooth driving.

Positive, it did it long before I took it to the track.. I just really didn't realize it was a problem.. then other people started mentioning the same prob.. It's pretty common for earlier cars even tho there's no TSB.. shift fork problems.
