Chewed up 1st gear?
Ive heard this phrased used alot on the forums, and i think it means you chew up your gears in 1st gear that makes it non-driveable. If iam right dose this mean the transmission isnt really good for high rpm clutch drops? Just wondeirng....

dont be road and track and do 8k clutch dumps...bad bad idea
but yea, first gear just..breaks and cant be used. i believe reverse goes out with it |
what is a " safe " rpm to drop the clutch, i read somewhere between 6-7k is your maximun limit.

I don't know ... since I plan on keeping my car, I have only done one clutch drop from around 6000 rpm. Since then it's all smooth driving.

I've done 6k at the most and got severe wheel hop that I didnt like..
I also just had my tranny rebuilt.. but that's totally unrelated. |

Positive, it did it long before I took it to the track.. I just really didn't realize it was a problem.. then other people started mentioning the same prob.. It's pretty common for earlier cars even tho there's no TSB.. shift fork problems.
