This is my first post on RX-8 club and I like the site a lot :D.
I got the auto/sporty in blue. Ive had the car just over 2 weeks now and just hit 800m.
Well I do all the right steps like everyone talks about and I baby this car way too much.
But today we went to state line to play the Calie loto. Befor we hit the road I filled her up with super. At the pump the gas pump that gos into the tank was making a strange soud like it was not working right? or like air was comeing out I dont know? so I told the cleark in side to check it out it may be OFO...
On the way to state line thats about a 40m round trip every things cool. Well on the way back the CES LIGHT turned on when I was on the freeway about 20m's out of town(I live in Las Vegas). So I pulled over poped the hood to check for strang sounds but found nothing?...
I then turned off the car for 15min and checked the gas door. It was ok. I checked the oil once more and it was good. So I called the dealer. They said to call this nu# and get towed into town. I called the towing co. and he said he can only pick up 2 people well there are 3 of usSo I went back to town driving slow @ 60mph and went home. Now I have to head to the dealer @ 7.am so they can find out whats wrong... . I love my 8 and hope every things cool... Gilbert.

 

probably nutin major. I think you connecting the two events and you are jumping to conclusions. I have had check engien lights as well and then they shut off. relax! you are under warranty let the dealer look at it then worry if it's not covered. prob. nothing major as long as you haven't modified the car that much!

 

Yea your right. I am not worryed that much. After all its a new car and its an 8 right:D... Well I called the dealer today 04/23/04 they said go in @ 7:30.am on 04/24/04 Ill post more then.

 

OK I went to Mazda and here's what happen.

Mazda: Its a 4/hr wait. You can take the courtesy van home.
So I took there courtesy van home. Well 2hrs later I call to see how my 8 is doing.
Mazda: He's on lunch call back in 30min.
I call 45min later.
Mazda: Well he went home for the day.
I'm like fine. Just tell me whats wrong with my car.
Mazda: Well I have to track the car down and call you back in 30min to 1hr.
1hr & 45min go by. No one calls my cell phone or my home, so I cal.
Mazda: Well your car has a bad battery and a short. The computer needs up to date software downloaded and to be tested.
I said: When can I pick up my car?.
Mazda: Tomorrow around 10 or 11am.
I said: I have to be at work by 9am. How do I get there? on the bus?...
Mazda: Oh he did not set you up with a car?
I said: NO!!! how was I to know you give me a loner?...
Mazda: OK call this # we cover $100. a day.
I call the #: We are sold out. Oh I do have one car for $169.+tax but Mazda only covers $100. per day.
I call Mazda: Will you cover the $69+tax for the rental?
Mazda: No.
I said: Look. I missed work to day. I am going miss work tomorrow. I have no car for 2 days. When my car is ready how am I supposed to pick it up? on the bus?...
Mazda: Can you get a ride?...
At this point I lost it.
I said: Look can I pick up my car today and on my next day off take it in. After all its on a 7year warranty.
Mazda: OK. Pick the keys up at the FD...
I call my brother to give me a ride.
He's 1/2 way to my place and guess how calls?
Mazda: The guy is 1/2 way into your car you cant pick it up he will not be done in time.
Now I call my brother an tell him never mind.
I said: Can your courtesy van pick me up?
Mazda: No the start at 6am and end at 2pm.
I said: So if I never went on the courtesy van I would still be at Mazda and how the hell I am I to get home!!!.
What a day... ...
The next day.
Mazda: Calls my cell phone; your total charges are $80.
I said: After all I was put through your going to charge me $80.
I talked to the service MG. He told me what happen was way out of control and unprofessional. To call me even if I need an oil change. Call me even if I need an oil change.
I said you got to be sh!ting me? how can you tell me that when after I get done paying on this car I will spend $50,K thousand dollars?...
I said: I should go get a Lexus. How do you stay in business?...
Mazda MG: I do apologize for what happen.
I said: What did you do? At this point he did not know what to say.
I said: Look I am not asking for nothing but to let you know so this will not happen to some one that will not take it as light as me.
Then end...
Thats what you think.
The next day my SES light is back on and the car runs like pope. It has never ran the same what do I do?...

 

Did you ever find out what they did to your car?

It may be in your post but I can't see it.

A) Find another dealer
Your present dealer is either not capable of helping you, or not trying. I think the cause of your original problem was a software glitch incorrectly illuminating the CEL, which was repaired with a TSB that repaired the software.

or B) If you have no choice but to use this dealer call Mazda North America (number should be in your Owner's Manual) and complain bitterly!

This is the first case I have heard of where the car is worse when it left the workshop than when it arrived!

 

I don't think there is a good one in Vegas.

 

My CES light starting coming on and off around 1500 miles, I called the dealership and sense it wasn't effecting performance they said that I could bring it in at my convienance and would give me a rental car right away. Sounds like to me you need to change dealerships as well. I'm afforded the luxury that my RX-8 isn't my commuter car and stays mostly garaged so I haven't experienced the same problems as you but I am upset that a brand-new car would have engine light problems but nothings perfect and like said earlier, it's under warrenty and is the dealers problem, not mine.

 

Thanks for the info. But my SES light is on and my 8 sounds like a 1969 VW!!! So at 7.am(5/5/4)I will take my 8 to my Mazda dealer once more...

people's on centennial and 215 in the NW is pretty decent... or at least was in the spring when they opened... now they pretty much do the same as the courtesy's... kept my car for a day for about an hour's worth of labor. Mostly because it was a busy day for them I guess... but I'd still take them over courtesy any day.

 

People's is Courtesy ... there is only realy 1 dealer.... I'm only bothered by the throwout bearing that they wont replace... and the squeeky back brakes

 

Tell them that they can go SUCK IT !

thats why I pull my CEL code out with scanlyser right away, so I know whats wrong and when I bring my car in, the dealer cant give me ****.

now take your car out, run around with high rpm the **** outa it for 5 minutes.

It even cures my CEL :D so its all good

derkenblosh, Centennial and 215 the other is in henderson. I went there for a oil change they tryed to charge me $40+ lol I walked out went to 215. So far they are OK not the best buy oh well.
