Can the 8's Renesis match the RX-01?
Seems I've heard the RX-Evolv and/or the RX-01 were able to produce something like an 11k redline and 280bhp, is this correct? If so, is this the same Renesis engine as what we have? If so again, is ours capable of such limits?
To me it seems otherwise, simply because our peak hp is supposedly at 8500rpm, and then it drops off. Not the kind of sharp drop off like in the time it takes for the runners to open, but a gradual decline like even if the redline was increased to 11k, there would be no point in surpassing 9k.
How are these engines different...and if it's all simply in the ECU, is the 11k redline and 280bhp obtainable by an rx-8?

uh...show cars don't have to be reliable in every weather condition known to man, they don't have to pass strict emmissions laws, they don't have to be decent on fuel economy and most of all they don't have to be built under a budget.......

the drop off is because of the current s-dais intake system is not built or tuned for rpms higher than the current redline. this along with the exshaust limtations because of the aforementioned smog controls is what is limiting the rpms and therefore power. different built/tuned intake, higherflow high temp cat (or none)and decent tuning "should" be able to raise the redline and therfore power.
