Calling all welders!

Anyone heard of a Thermal Dynamix machine? I can buy a power supply for $600. 240/480 1 or 3 phase. 100% duty cycle @ 300a. Its about 10 years old. I'd need to get any cables/guns/torches for mig/tig/stick, grounding cable, and regulator. The guy selling it was a pro for 37 years and just retired 2 miles away. He also mentioned it has a 7 and 14 pin outs, but I'd really appreciate it if someone explained this to me.

Is this worth the money? I'd be stuck with stick and learning TIG, since I won't be able to afford a spool gun for a long time.

What are you trying to accomplish with this machine? With big machines, the guns, spools, regulators, and stuff can easily cost as much as the power supply. If you are just learning, I would start with a hobbyist welding class at a vocational/jr college and get to know their machines, then buy the one you liked the best.

Tig power supplies have advanced quite a bit over the last 10 years in ease of use.

I would let the guy sell his machinery to someone who knew what it was., and I've bought some pretty industrial stuff over the years.

I have a simple Lincloln 140 amp mig welder and it's served me very well. When I need something better than that I just hire somebody to do it, I don't weld enough to keep my skill up on a Tig machine. Tig is hard.
