A/c
Hello, why is it that on the RX8 the A/c does not work properly? I have already replaced the A/c ampefier and still one side it not as cold as the other! Sometimes it even is luke warm! I have an evap and recharge done, that was not the issue neither. Blendor or the Heater control valve maybe? Please help, thanks Ela

The engine creates 1.5 times more heat than a piston engine. perhaps even more.
All sports car have a warming issue.
They are low ro groung and engine/tranny are closer to pan.
The compressor is too small in my opinion.
If you actually put a thermometer into the AC duct you will see it is plenty cold.
By the time it reaches you it's warm.
Touch the center console and the carpeting right of your seat. Feel the heat generated?
Try the insulated heat wrap in the DYI section it works.
Thank the Green guru's for **** AC chemicals.
Most cars now a days over compensate by a higher fan velocity.
Increase the fan speed by 1.5 and there will be a big difference.
The Australians make the Comodore. The fan is 3x as powerful as any other car made.
It's like siting in a chair with an eletric fan blowing on your face from one foot away.
Increasing the fan speed and upgrading the compressor should be on the list for the next RX car.

It could be the controls in the cabin are bad. Try wiggling the temperature **** and see if that helps temporarily. There is a DIY on how to repair this. https://www.rx8club.com/series-i-do-yourself-forum-73/diy-no-heat-repair-heater-control-158200/

You did not say what year...
In my Sig, under the first $100, are several things that, among other things, got the AC nice and cold. Most, in one way or the other, deal with engine heat management and keeping it out of the AC system. A few make the car run a little better overall. Without more data, I can only suggest you start there.
Also, I am in central Florida, deal with 95+ temps, and usually have to turn the AC down after about 5 to 10 minutes because I am uncomfortably cold. Run your on outside air for a minute two with the windows down half an inch to get as much hot air out of the car as possible, then roll up the windows and hit recirc from then on. A sun shade and window tint also help.

I had to milk the cow on mine and fix a leaking O-ring with a can of sealant (lazy).
To milk the cow (evap drain) put hand over the oil filter back above the transmission up on the center firewall. A little sqare nipple just work it like your trying to get some milk lol. I tried sticking things in it and gave up hahah but water started to drain again. They call it Duck Bill.

Hello again,
it is a 2004 model! I just wish I could get it to do better. Mind you now I live in SC and it is hot here. I just want it fixed so I can enjoy my baby when it is hot outside, not only in spring, fall and winter . I heard that those earlier models have problems with the A/C, does this mean I may need a whole new A/C system?? Thanks Ela

What I learned was that there are things that make life hard on the AC.
If you insulate the lines, it gets better. If you put the foam back around the radiator, the hot engine compartment air does not get back to the condenser. If you make sure the fans are running, the whole thing is happier. I had the problems you describe, likely worse, and now I get cold air out of the AC. All I did was the stuff in the $100 thread. You may have other issues, and the AC is not the reason to buy one of these cars, but those things help.
