CA about front license plate

hi folks

i just got new intake.. from racingbeat with airduct..and was kind of thinking that my front license plate was kinda blocking the airway of airduct...
and also thinking that the front license plate gives crappy lookin into my 8.

so i decided to get rid of it. but oh no. the "nice" californian policers wont let me do that! i didnt wanna get pulled over and pay few fines.. with seeking risks.... so i did some search here it was something called tow hook license plate. i looked some product that might fit on 8 and the "RHO-Plate"
came up. as the first picture i attached, looks like that.

so i did some "paint" work and matched with my 8, looked WTF#!%?
i wanted get little bit more edge and lower.

my question is now;
is there anyway i can get the lancer evo front license plate look
or i have to drill the bumpers for holes? or i should just forget it since i am not brave enough lol

Looks good on the Evo.. not so much on the 8. Autozone sells a bracket that allows u to mount it on the bottom of the bumper, look into it.

+1 for Autozone license plate mount. It works perfectly for our car. Don't even need to drill holes; you can just hold it with the bolts that are under the front of the bumper.

Would look something like this:

Its the chrome one. Beware though, you have to secure it really well. I had one, and now I have no front plate at all. must have fallen off. I checked the screws every few days for a few weeks after I did the install and they were always tight, then six months later I noticed the whole assembly and plate were gone. Could have been stolen, but it is much more likely that the whole thing fell off.

To the OP, there is a DIY for adapting the OEM Evo kit to fit on an 8.

If you look carefully the front license plate bracket sits just above the part of the grill that is open and where the racing beat duct is. It does not cover it.
