Brand-new 06 & 07 RX-8 at my dealer: What do I have to check?

... they literelly sat there for 3 and 4 years. Both are Velocity Red GT's, manual. The 07 sat in the showroom for all is display life, the 06 have rolled back and forth the dealer parking lot and the showroom floor.

Aside from the battery condition, what to I have to check? The engine barely ever run and being a dealer, i'm sure they did'nt take the precaution of starting the engine once a week.

Note that the 06 have been regularly outside and here in Québec we have harsh winters.

Needless to say they offer HUGE discount on both: 07 goes for 29 000CDN, 06 for 27 000CDN, and they are both "dealable" judging by the tone of the director of the dealer.

So what do I have to check? Compression? Anything?

Thanx guys and gals!

compression might be useful. engine not being run for that long is no good, but since they're brand new they should both be covered by full warranty, right? make sure you get a killer deal on it

i don't know how the warranty works up north, but it should be by the 'in service' date rather than manufacture date. So if it's really brand new, that's good (cause they adjusted the terms of the mazda warranty a couple years back).

as for what to check, spark plugs could be NG, and change all the fluids. (you already listed the battery)

compression shouldn't be an issue at <100 miles (unless it was damaged) although you might want to run some cleaner for old carbon.
