Ok gang since I got a price from the local stealer where would the best place to buy both of the motor mounts. I found it total unreasonable that both of them where over $300 bucks. The daughters 8 is shaking bad when at idle but smooths out when under way or has a load on it. After lots of searching and contact a freind of my who's son work at the dealership that is what it seems to be.

Also what about a NEW Remote key fob?

But to try and help I remeber seeing a DIY on here somewhere that just fixes the old motor mounts, I believe it has to do with filing them with epoxy and cutting them apart. Not for sure, but im sure you could search and find that.

Not really sure about the keyfob, I see them in the FS section sometimes, maybe try EBAY.

That is such a great DIY. Much better solution than the top mount dampers I bet. Just wish my old mounts had been salvageable; right side looked like a grenade went off next to it.

Well there are two basic types, depending on Year..
Switch Blade Key (retractable) Or Not..

AFAIK, if you have Sw Blade type you have to go Genuine, as I have heard many issues with Key Immobiliser Transmitter Communicate issues with non-genuine fobs.

I know there are issues with Australian and Europe SB Key fobs transmitters which are slightly different to the US ones which have red Panic Button.

USA Switch Blade or Retractable Key fob was used from mid 2005 production (approx).

You may also need to refill your a\c if it shakes so bad. Promised it won't completely solve the problem but it should help.

Less movement and reduced probability of failure. I'd be all over a set of Mazda competition mounts.

Reduced possibility of failure for the engine mounts, increased engine cracking chances.
I'd rather just fill up my engine mounts with a harder Poly shore than use solid ones.

Yeah, plus they define the OE ones as rubber mounts... when they are actually oil filled.

Awesome, I didn't realize Megan racing sold an alternative mount for our cars. Solid is unncecessary, but harder rubber mounts are an excellent option.

Re-Amemiya offers the solid aluminum mount if anyone is looking for it. I haven't heard of anyone with a cracking/ hardened vibration using these. Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't the torque on our engines too low to do that type of damage? Everyone is selling torque dampers for the RX-8- but it seems like solid motor mounts would be a better way to go.

I'm getting the engine replaced via the dealer under warranty. To mess with them I want to see if they'll install the solid mounts while doing the job and what they'd say. I'll probably go with the Megan units in reality, though.

the whole point of having a soft mount is you will get a less "shaky" cabin.

Solid mount never breaks, but you will feel every single vibration. if your road condition and everything is 100% smooth or you're racing then its ok, but NYC? Street use? no thanks, I don't want to hate my 8 and crash it into a wall yet.

Latest mount is holding up fine for me,it has been 4 yrs and no issue.

Now I'm thinking why not get the solid mounts for kicks & see if it's that bad. I'll keep my faulty old ones, and can fill them anytime with the 2 part. I'm afraid I have a very short commute and have to practically redline it just to get warmed up. (short, but fun commute)( and Highway milage) I'm afraid I'm already feeling every vibration as-is. It just seems like rigid mounts would allow engine vibration to disperse through the entire chassis, but also allow for more power transfer to the wheels when putting the foot down.

You do not want solid aluminumm mounts because eventually the aluminum brackets will crack and break from the stress and vibration. SpeedSource quit using them because of this in their early GrandAm efforts.
