For your car, you have the same 4.44 gears as all of the ('03) '04 to '08 manual cars:
From Road & Track (2004 specs), the stock final drive ratio is: 4.44:1
1st gear: 3.76:1 (16.71:1)
2nd gear: 2.27:1 (10.08:1)
3rd gear: 1.65:1 (7.31:1)
4th gear: 1.19:1 (5.28:1)
5th gear: 1.00:1 (4.44:1)
6th gear: 0.84:1 (3.75:1)
(overall ratio in brackets)
Aftermarket ratios:
4.777 - FEED made (makes?) a 4.77 gearset. There is a thread here: https://www.rx8club.com/showthread.p...ht=ring+pinion
However, since Mazda has gone to a 4.77 for the '09 's, there are other solutions, like from your dealer or see below from Mazmart (a forum vendor).
There are also Mazdaspeed 5.12:1 gearsets. I'm also told that you can fit a 1993+ FD ring & pinion into the case.
