electronic problems? temps are wrong, everything is weird
hi, i havent driven my car in a few months because i've been out of the state for an extended period of time.
i got back today and turned on the car only to find that the temp is being read incorrectly. it's cold outside but it reads like its fully warmed up (right on the cold side of half) thus it wont rev in the 2000s by itself before slowly bringing down the rpm as the car gets warmer. instead, when i start it, it idles right at 800-900 rpm like its fully warm.
also the radio stations have all been reset. the DSC/TSC light stays on. everything is a mess.
anybody know what i can do?
will resetting the electronics do anything? (how do i do this?)
thanks!

Actually, your kinda lucky it started!
You didn't say it, but did you disconnect the battery while gone? If you did, that explains the radio and DCS/TCS. If you didn't disconnect the battery, then you lost power sometime..........somehow, while you were gone. Most people when gone a long time either disconnect it or put it on a trickle charger.
Anyway........
For the DCS/TCS light..............Turn the car to "on", but do not start. Turn the wheel all the way to the right, then all the way to the left. Turn the key to off. You will need to do this anytime you disconnect the battery.
There are two other reset procedures, one for the NVRAM and the other for the KAM.
1) With the key in the off position, press and hold the odometer reset button and turn the key to on;
Continue to hold the odo button until the odometer reads "TEST" and then release.
2) Turn the key to off and repeat step one.
This will reset the entire PCM except the KAM which contains the sensor profiles amongst other things. You can reset it with the familiar procedure:
1) Turn the key to on
2) Depress the brake pedal rapidly 20 times in a row until the oil pressure gauge sweeps to halfway and back again.
After all this is done, then go take it for a drive and once completely warmed up to operating temp, get on it and redline it a few times. Don't forget to never shut this car off cold!
Hopefully this will cure all your ills.
