Am I burning oil?
I was wondering if I'm burning oil, because I was looking at the tip of my exhaust and its black, so I was wondering what the problem is, and why it's doing that...
I'm thinking I might need a ECU Flash from Mazda, because I'm not sure what flash I have right now...

You do realize that:
1. The rotary engine by design consumers oil.
2. The rotary engine run pretty rich and will leave carbon deposits on the exhaust tips.
Both of which lead to you needing to do the following:
1. Check your oil frequently and add to keep close to the full line
2. Run the engine hard daily to redline to keep the carbon buildup out of the engine.

The Renesis is relatively clean. It's not pumping out undue amounts of particulates, despite using some oil. It is NOT, however, a zero-emissions-vehicle. And, like any other gasoline engine there will be soot inside the tailpipe. The RX-8 is not unusual in this regard. Take a kleenex to any car in your parking lot and swipe inside the tailpipe (when cold of course). You will find soot. It is more noticeable on the RX-8 because the tips are shiny chrome, they are readily visible, and RX-8 owners tend to be a bit obsessive, shall we say?
