Air pump going bad

so my air pump is going bad and im not planning on replacing it. so i was wondering if i could just take out the fuse for it to keep it from running.

Sure. Or you can disconnect it. I don't think you can remove it without plugging the holes up though.

yeah ive seen a delete plate to do that but i dont really see the point.

if you unplug it or pull the fuse you'll get a CEL. I have an AP that masks mine, so i just unplugged it. If you have an OBDII reader you can just erase the CEL each time, but it will come back with every cold start.

just buy a used one, they can often be had for not that much $$$

[soapbox] anyone who buys, let alone races, an RX8 has a long way to go before they're green [/soapbox]

To add to Team's suggestion, if you have a cat you really should replace the air pump.

Or if it is NOISY, just renew the Bearings....common NSK 608VVC3 Bearings (two)..

thanks everyone for the advice. im not exactly sure what to do yet. i would definitely just replace the bearings if i was confident enough to take all that apart but im not so, we'll see.

Replacement Air Pump

Does anyone know if BOSCH W0133-1597546 is the same as the air pump in the RX-8? Audi Quattros use this part.

i was going to say the one i ordered from mazda came with the little jumper harness and its got a mercedes symbol on it, so it might be a mercedes part, but that does look right.
