The wires from the rear O2 sensor are yellow, red, brown and striped white.....

What are you tapping into?

I don't think you can "tap" into the OEM sensors to run your gauge. You need an aftermarket Wideband O2 sensor in order to run an AFR gauge.

which gauge did you get? i believe the front sensor is the wideband (the rear is just there to test for cat efficiency.. not sure if it's possible to use the oem sensor to drive an a/f gauge

This gauge is one of our easiest gauges to install with a 3 wire hook up.
Red-12v power
Blk- Ground
Green-output signal (usually the grey wire) on your stock O2 sensor.

the problem is you need to make sure the gauge is compatible with the output the stock o2 sensor produces.. afaik different manufacturers use different electronic circuits to "drive" the sensor. pray someone more knowledgeable chimes in

For as long as i've heard those type of gauges don't work with the rx8's sensor output.

I think you would need a full standalone like this:

or

The front is a wideband. You'll need to connect it to the back. I know this is a bit late, But I ran into this problem already. you want to connect it to the Blue wire.
the 2 blacks are just grounds.

Because his gauge is a Narrowband Gauge connecting to the rear Narrowband sensor.. you could figure it out any way you want.. He asked which of the 4 wires to use. Where did you see him saying he had a wide band gauge? Most gauges out are narrowband...
